Pending Board of Education approval, Jeff Wolkoff, has been named as the next Head Boys Lacrosse Coach at Sycamore High School replacing Greg Cole who stepped down after 8 seasons to spend more time with family. Coach Cole amassed an 81-69 record in those 8 seasons and was named the OHSLA Coach of the Year in 2015 as well as the 2017 OHSLA Region and State Man of the Year and OHSAA Sportsmanship, Ethics and Integrity Award Winner.
“Coach Wolkoff demonstrated the passion, competitiveness, integrity, organization, desire, and knowledge to lead our young men and to continue the great tradition built by Coach Nugent and Coach Cole while emphasizing the development of the whole student athlete. His passion for the game of lacrosse and for student-athletes is evident in everything that that he does and makes him the perfect fit to lead our young men” said Phil Poggi, Athletic Director.
The Jeff Wolkoff File
Jeff was a three sport athlete at Sycamore High School, participating in Soccer, Ice Hockey and Lacrosse, where he was a 3-time captain of the Lacrosse team as a Goalie. While playing for Sycamore, he earned 1st Team All Region and 3rd Team All State awards while setting the school record for Career Wins. Jeff has spent the last seven years coaching lacrosse at the High School and Junior High levels. He most recently served as Head Boys Lacrosse Coach at Springboro High School where he led them to a 14-2 record and was honored as the 2016 SW Ohio High School Coach of the Year. In addition, he was the Head Varsity Boys Soccer Coach at Hamilton High School for two seasons. This past season upon returning to Sycamore he served as Assistant Varsity Boys Soccer Coach and Head Junior High Boys Lacrosse Coach.
Jeff graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Education with a focus in Integrated Social Studies in 2015. He currently teaches History at Sycamore Junior High School.
